James W. Friedman, 1936-
Industrial organization economist, focusing on oligopoly and game
theory, and pioneer of experimental economics.
James W. Friedman obtained his B.A. and Michigan and his Ph.D at
Yale in 1963. After
periods teaching at Yale (where he was connected with
Cowles), Rochester and
Virginia Tech, James W. Friedman settled down at the University of North
Carolina, Chapel Hill.
