Welfare theorist at MIT.
Born in New York City, Jerome Rothenberg obtained his BA from Columbia in 1945, and subsequently his Ph.D. in 1954. Rothernberg was then assistant professor at the University of California-Riverside until 1957, when he joined the faculty at the University of Chicago. He decamped three years later, in 1960, to neighboring Northwestern. Jerome Rothenberg became professor of economics at MIT in 1966, where he remained until retirement.
