British physician and statistician. William A. Guy was professor of forensic medicine and hygiene at King's College London and social and economic statistician on the side. William A. Guy contributed substantially to development of statistics in Britain. He was a leading figure in the Statistical Society of London, having served as its president in 1873-75 and long-time contributor and editor of its journal. The Guy Medal (Gold and Silver) in statistics awarded by the Royal Statistical Society are named after him.
