Robin C.O. Matthews, 1927-2010
Born in Edinburgh, Robert ("Robin") Charles Oliver Matthews was educated at
Corpus Christi College, Oxford.
R.C.O. Matthews went on to became a lecturer at St.
John's College, Cambridge during the
early post-war period. A pioneering researcher in the
business cycle and growth
theory in the Oxbridge tradition.
In 1965, Matthews held the Drummond Professorship at
Oxford. In 1976, he moved back to
Cambridge, to become master of Clare College and later the Cambridge Chair in
Political Economy.
