Francis Davy Longe, 1831-1910.

British laywer and anti-classical economist.

In his day, Francis Davy Longe was perhaps best known as a star cricketer for Harrow and Oxford.  He got his B.A. from Oriel College, and a law degree from the Inner Temple.  Longe served on a British commission on child labor in 1862-67.

In economics, Francis D. Longe is best known for his anti-classical 1866 tract, making him one of the first to demolish the Ricardian "Wages-Fund" doctrine.  In this, Longe was followed up independently by W.T. Thornton.
